A later transcription of an address written by Miss Mary Jane Allan Connor for the 50th Anniversary of the Port Church. The address recalls the opening of the Port Ahuriri Church building on 21 June 1896.
Attached by staple to the top left corner of the transcription is a small note written by the transcriber, Sheena Blundell. She states that her Aunt Mary would have been 7 years, 9 months old at the time of the opening of the church and comments on the content of the address, adding her own recollections of the church.
