About this object
View of the Mount St Mary's Seminary at Greenmeadows taken in the aftermath of the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.
This photograph records some of the masonry that fell from the building as a result of the earthquake. A note on the back of the photograph states that the hole along the slab of concrete located at the centre of the image was cut out by crowbars to release a student who was pinned under the masonry.
The photograph was possibly taken on 9 February 1931.
Photographer, J R O'Shaughnessy.
