Pictured central to the photograph is the Bank of New Zealand building, originally constructed circa 1882. Visible to the right of the Bank of New Zealand, on Dowling Street is the New Zealand Clothing Company Limited Building (Former), constructed circa 1883.

Date unknown, possibly late 1880 - 1890.
