Brief Description
A general letter written by H J Russell, Secretary of the Hawke's Bay War Relief Association of Napier asking for applicants for the Hunter Gift for the Settlement of Discharged Soldiers and dated 7 December 1931.

Letter states that Sir George Hunter transferred to the Government 7 sections of land in Porangahau comprising 2297 acres of land for the benefit of discharged soldiers and that Hunter Soldiers' Assistance Trust which now totals £7000.

Includes a list of purposes for which money can be loaned and the terms of any loans taken out.

Includes a note attached to letter entitled: Instructions to Applicants. Ask any applicants to forward information regarding any loan applied for and for a certificate of discharge.

Duplicate written on first page. Signed by H J Russell.
