A note on the album page on which the photograph is mounted states: New Era Grader, Whare o maraenui. The grader and ditcher is drawn by a team of horses. The piece of machinery is operated by two men. A sign on the back of the grader reads: R McGaffin, Contractor. Two horse drawn carts can be seen to the right of the grader and ditcher. A hill range is visible in the distance. Multiple houses can be seen on the side of the hill.
