About this object
A photograph of a township. The caption identifies the location as: From the Bealy - Hokitika Road. This possibly refers to a small township named Bealey that briefly existed on the road over Arthur's Pass between the Bealey and Waimakariri rivers in the late 1800s. Five weatherboard structures can be seen by the road. Snow capped mountains in the Arthur's Pass National Park are visible in the background of the photograph. The are possibly Mt Oates and Mt Franklin.

Photographer, attributed to Frank Coxhead.
Date, unknown. Possibly 1880s.
