Brief Description
A manuscript written by Geoff Gilchrist, Peta's husband in which he describes her sad drowning off the Waimarama beach. Lillian (known as Peta) Gilchrist was also known as Moonbeam.
Geoff describes the tributes which flooded in after her death from Amateur Radio Enthusiasts. Peta was Vice-President of the Napier Branch of NZART, a past President of the Maraenui Ladies Golf Club, a member of the Heretaunga Tramping Club and an Honorary Official of the Napier Athletic Club.
He finishes by stating that Peta would not want an elaborate memorial but to perpetuate her memory, it is hoped to establish on a vacant corner of a public park a small building to provide a permanent home for the Napier Chess Club and the NZART.
