About this object
A photograph of three fire fighters putting out a fire. The men are possibly members of the Spit Volunteer Fire Brigade.

The two firemen in the foreground are standing side by side and holding a high water pressure hose. They wear silver helmets and have cigarettes in their mouths. Behind them another man in uniform is evident looking on.

In the background the steel frame of a building is visible. The photograph may have been taken following the fire that swept Napier after the Hawke's Bay earthquake of February 1931.

Photographer and date unknown.
