About this object
View of the sitting room at the Karamu homestead, Hastings.

Built in 1876, this house was the country residence of John Davies Ormond and his family. The walls of the room are hung with floral wallpaper. A fireplace with a painted timber surround forms the centrepiece of the rear wall of the room. The grate has been filled in. Among the furnishings that are visible in the room are a round table, a side table, a lamp, and two cane stools.
