About this object
A studio portrait photograph of three children identified as Lizzie, Arthur and Ada Brown. The children are posed against a seashore backdrop. The eldest child standing in the centre of the picture is holding a sand or water bucket and looking directly at the camera. The child seated at the left of the photograph is dressed in a sailor style jacket and shorts. He holds a spade and has one foot on a rock. The child seated at the right of the photograph is holding a sea sponge. Rocks and seaweed are used as props in the foreground of the image. The photograph was taken in mid-summer 1875.
