About this object
View of a house thought to be the Herrick family home on Forest Gate Station at Ruataniwha in Hawke's Bay.

The house was occupied by Jasper Lucas Herrick, his wife Emily Martha Duncan, and their children. The two storey house is of timber construction. Outbuildings are visible to the right of the house. The buildings are located at the top of a hill. A group of people are posed for the photograph in front of the house. They are possibly members of the Herrick family. Cattle graze in the foreground.
