Brief Description
Three requisition duplicate books associated with the relief effort following the 1931 Napier earthquake, issued by the Napier Food Control Committee.
Printed information on the original slip includes the heading: Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board. The duplicate books have been acquired and reused by the Napier Food Control Committee. Handwritten information on the slip includes the person or company requisitioned, the date, quantity, description and delivery instructions of goods and services, and name of the Food Controller.
a) Requisition duplicate book: 8 - 9 February 1931. Food Controller signatories include: L Stephenson, H E Edgley, and L Stephenson. Goods requisitioned include: milk, potatoes, benzine, flour, transport, tobacco, cigarettes, sugar, rice, onions, tea, candles, sheep tongues, peaches, apricots, pineapple, safety matches, cheese, kerosene, sacks, beef, mutton, soap, salmon, cups and saucers, knives and forks, teaspoons, sandsoap, coffee, butter, ovaltine, apples, and gauze. One requisition is to the Police Department requesting a nightly patrol of the Hastings Street School Depot and Kitchen.
b) Requisition duplicate book: 9 - 10 February 1931. Food Controller signatories include: L Stephenson, H E Edgley, and L Stephenson. Goods requisitioned include: benzine, cups and saucers, sugar basins, tea pot, methylated spirits, potatoes, carrots, eggs, transport, Orion Range, chemicals, epsom salts, saw, hammer, nails, glaxo, bottle teats, safety matches, stamps, platform scales, oil, shirt, singlet, trousers.
c) Requisition duplicate book: 9 February - 10 February 1931. Food Controller signatories include: L Stephenson, H E Edgley, and L Stephenson. Goods requisitioned include: sugar, transport, starch, benzine, oil, billies, stove, butter, pats, soda water, tin opener, scrubbing brushes, bacon, aerated waters, soap, candles, biscuits, oatmeal, baking powder, cups, torches, bread improver, milk, salt, bread tins, lamb, fresh fish, smoked fish, firewood, sheep, beef, tapioca, jam, vinegar, cocoa, golden syrup, locks and keys, boots, rusks, coffee, treacle, and pineapple.
