The photograph shows the Napier Central Business District looking towards Marine Parade from Tiffen Park.

Church Lane can be seen running towards Tennyson Street in the lower left hand corner. Ross & Glendinning Ltd's building (E A Williams, architect) is on the corner of both streets and opposite is Sainsbury, Logan & Williams Ltd (Finch & Westerholm, architects). The Tennyson Chambers (J A Louis Hay & Natusch, architects) are opposite followed by Gladstone Chambers (Finch & Westerholm, architects) and then the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company Ltd (Finch & Westerholm, architects). At the corner of Tennyson and Market Streets is Bowmans building, (J A Louis Hay, architect).

The Masonic Hotel (Prouse & Wilson, architects) is on the left near the Pacific Ocean followed by the Market Reserve building (Natusch & Sons, architects), both on Tennyson Street.

The wooden building on the lower left belongs to the Church Army.
