About this object
The photograph shows the Napier Central Business District looking towards Taradale. St John's Anglican Church, which replaced the Cathedral after the earthquake, has been built. Beside it is the original Sunday school building belonging to the Cathedral.

The Napier Public Trust building is also visible and to the left of it can be seen the skeleton of St Paul's Presbyterian Church, which was destroyed in the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. There is still evidence of the destruction caused by the earthquake.

The Madeira steps are on the right. Norfolk Pines line Marine Parade.
