About this object
An image of a St John’s float travelling down Tennyson Street, possibly for a Mardi Gras or Carnival celebration. The St John’s float reflects the charitable organisations history of medical care with two children at the front of the float bandaged as patients. Two other children are seated in the female and male uniform. Behind them a group of adults stand on the float in various official St John’s uniforms. The float itself is an interpretation of a painted stone castle. The Saint John’s shields are visible at the rear of the float in the front of the image. The Bowman’s Building on the corner of Tennyson and Market Street can be seen in background of the image at the left. A woman is standing on top of the shop awning on the opposite Market Street corner.
