About this object
View of the Saloon at the McLean family residence on Napier Terrace, Napier.

The photograph has been taken from the centre of the Saloon, possibly looking south. The room is amply furnished with chairs and tables of various designs. Bookcases are located along the far wall. Potted plants grow around the room. A small collection of weapons is displayed on the left wall of the room, which has been partly finished in timber panelling.

The windows on the right side of the photograph look out over the gardens. In the foreground of the image, a framed photograph has been placed on a low table facing the camera. The photograph appears to record the interior of a library.

A note in the album in which the photograph is mounted states that the corner of the Saloon led to the sunporch.
