About this object
View of the gardens at the McLean residence on Napier Terrace, Napier.
A raised platform is located on the right side of the photograph. The roof of the structure is overgrown with plants. A note in the album in which the photograph is mounted identifies this structure as the Summer house. This structure is said to have overlooked the Japanese Garden.

The photograph was taken after the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.

Photographer, Percy C Sorrell.
