About this object
The photograph shows that the devastation caused to the Napier central business district by the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake has been cleaned up and the construction of new buildings begun.

The photograph looks along Tennyson Street towards the Pacific Ocean. The side view of the Market Reserve building can be seen on the corner of Hastings and Tennyson Streets. The Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company's building (Finch & Westerholm) is on the right hand side of the image. Sainsbury Logan & Williams (Finch & Westerholm) is the building on the left hand side.
