About this object
A postcard photograph of a drum and pipe band on a horse drawn vehicle.
The image is possibly of a float from one of the early Napier Mardi Gras parades. The group are seated on the wagon looking toward the camera. There are instruments and music stands in front of them on the float. One member, possibly the conductor is standing at the front of the float near the driver. The driver is seated wearing a suit and holding the reins. A flag is on a pole at an angle near the front of the float. The pole is topped with a fleur de lis.
Two dray horses are standing in the road or driveway harnessed to the wagon. A line of trees stand behind the group. There is a grass verge on either side of the road.
Photographer, unknown. Thought to be dated in the period of the First World War.
