A photograph depicting a group of young women dressed as Māori in a canoe on the Tutaekuri River.
The photograph appears to have been taken during a regatta or carnival.
The canoe is positioned across the river so the length of the boat can be seen. The group are turned toward the camera.
The women are dressed in piupiu that are worn draped over one shoulder. They are also wearing headdresses with feathers. At the stern of the canoe there is a male paddler. At the bow of the canoe a young girl is partially lying propped up in the bottom of the boat.
There appears to be a landing or a jetty further up the river at the left.
