About this object
The photograph shows that the devastation caused to the Napier central business district by the 3 February Hawke's Bay earthquake has been cleaned up and new building begun.
In the foreground of the photograph shows the construction of the Criterion Hotel on the corner of Hastings and Emerson Streets. The temporary Criterion bar can be seen behind the new building. The spire of St Patrick's Catholic Church can be seen in the distance on the right.
