About this object
View of the ceremony held during the laying of the foundation stone of the Hawke's Bay Art Gallery and Museum on 18 July 1935. The stone was laid by the Governor General of New Zealand, George Vere Arundel Monckton-Arundell (Viscount Galway), who is visible at the centre of the image. He has his back to the camera and is bent forward.
The man standing to the right of Viscount Galway is possibly the President of the Hawke's Bay Art Society, Nathaniel Kettle.
