About this object
A photograph depicting an effigy from the 1930 Napier Mardi Gras named : Old Man 1930. The figure is situated on the shore of Napier beach. It has an oversized head and small arms with a small section of upper torso. The Old Man is modelled with a saddened dark face, moustache and large tears rolling from its eyes. The figure is wearing a cardboard top hat painted with the date 1930. It is noted on the back of the photograph that the effigy was burnt during the Napier Mardi Gras at the end of 1930.
