About this object
A photograph of Sheila Williams the New Napier Carnival Queen and G Williams, at the right, walking down a Napier street.
The New Napier Carnival, held from 21 to 28 January 1933, celebrated the opening of Napier after the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. Sheila Williams is wearing a long pale dress covered in a fur trim cloak. The tassels of the cloak are tied at the front. She is wearing a crown. Her gloved left hand is raising the cloak at her left hip. G Williams who walks at her side is wearing a large pale brimmed hat, gloves and a short sleeved dress. The pair seem to be walking under a shop awning.
