About this object
A panoramic photograph of a large celebration on Marine Parade circa 1925.
The image depicts a large crowd gathered around the band rotunda in front of the Masonic Hotel. Inside the band rotunda two men are speaking to the crowd. A young woman dressed in a cloak and holding a mace is seated. The woman may be the Carnival Queen of the Napier Mardi Gras. Several other young women are also seated on the stage.
A large Ferris wheel is visible at the right of the image in front of the Masonic Hotel. A boy is climbing at the top of the wheel. The start of Emerson Street is visible at the left of the Masonic Hotel.
