A photograph of the Blythe’s float in the 1922 Napier Mardi Gras.
The image depicts a large float in the middle of an unidentified Napier street with people passing in front of it. The float constructed on a flatbed with a central gazebo and four pillars, one at each corner. There are decorations strung between the pillars and the gazebo. Seated in the gazebo is a woman dressed as a shepherdess holding a shepherd’s crook.
Several other similarly dressed women are seated on the float outside the gazebo. In the foreground a young girl is holding a man’s hand and looking toward the camera. The man is partially turned looking at the Blythe’s company float.
