About this object
A black and white photograph of a decorated dray and cart from the 1915 Napier Mardi Gras.

The dray and decorated buggy are travelling down Dickens Street just past the Dalton Street intersection. The lightly coloured dray horse is decorated in a harness with meddles attached. It is wearing a hat and has symbols, possibly a flag, painted on its hide. It appears slightly blurred in the original print. The horse is being led by a man dressed in a clown like carnival costume wearing a hat with a flower attached.

People are seated and holding parasols in the buggy drawn by the horse. The awning over the buggy is partially thatched. A sign at the front reads: Half and Half. The sign has images of two darkly coloured bottles on the front. The premises of Prime and Sons (W L) merchants are visible at the background left of the image just after the Dalton Street intersection.
