About this object
View of the Money Order and Post Office Savings Bank on the corner of Hastings Street and Dickens Street, Napier, thought to have been taken in 1928 shortly before it was demolished to make way for a new Post Office building designed by Government Architect, J T Mair. The photograph has been taken from an elevated position on the opposite side of Hastings Street looking west.
Dickens Street is located on the left side of the photograph. Among the businesses that are visible along Dickens Street are E V James Motors and Dalgety and Company Limited. Tram lines are also visible along along the street.
