Letter from James Crowe Richmond to George Stoddart Whitmore from Wellington, dated 14 November 1868.
Richmond writes about his receipt of a letter detailing an unsuccessful attack on Moturoa Pā in Taranaki by Whitmore. States that Whitmore's handling of the situation was exemplary in the face of desertion by the Māori Contingent and especially marks the effort made by Major Kemp to rescue his forces. Also writes of Major Hunter's death on the battlefield.
