Object detail

About this object
View of a valley near Tarawera, Hawke's Bay, taken in September 1896. A river or stream is located at the bottom of the valley on the right side of the photograph. This waterway is possibly the Waipunga River. A road is located to the left of the waterway. Hills rise steeply away from the road on the left side of the photograph. A note in the album in which the photograph has been mounted identifies the scene as representing The Nunnery, Tarawera, Hawke's Bay. The Nunnery possibly refers to Nunnery Bush.

Photographer, Russell Duncan.
