About this object
A photograph of the Gordon's Boys Pipe Band in the Napier Mardi Gras. The photograph is thought to have been taken at the 1922 Mardi Gras. The group of pipers are playing as they march down Emerson Street from the Marine Parade. Most of the young men are in blazers and shorts or longs. The older man at the left is wearing a kilt and traditional piping dress. The corner of Hastings Street is visible in the background of the image.

Spectators line Emerson Street in the right of the image. Groups of boys appear to be marching alongside and behind the highland pipers.
The building on the corner of Emerson and Hastings Street in the background is the Hawke’s Bay Direct Supply Association Limited. John McVay’s business is also partially visible on Hastings Street at the left.
