About this object
Group portrait of a man, woman and child taken on 21 January 1898. A note in the album in which the photograph is mounted states that the photograph represents the Hurst Family at Ohinepango. Ohinepango possibly refers to the Ohinepango Stream in the Waikato. Mr Hurst stands at the centre of the photograph. Mrs Hurst kneels at his feet holding a small child. The family are posed on a large floor mat, or whāriki. A timber structure with a thatched roof is located to their left.
