About this object
A photograph of a horse drawn cart in the New Napier Carnival Parade, January 1933.
The New Napier Carnival, held from 21 to 28 January 1933, celebrated the opening of Napier after the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. The image depicts a stagecoach drawn by two black horses. The coach appears to be the Hawke's Bay Motor Company Coach that used to run between Taupo and Napier. The cart is full of people in Victorian dress.
The coach is passing in front of a large group of spectators. The onlookers are standing along the pavement in front of a large planted area, presumably Clive Square.
Photographer, unknown.
Date, unknown.
