About this object
Coloured postcard featuring a view of Hastings Street taken from the foot of Shakespeare Road looking south, possibly in the early 1900s.

The Post Office is located on the right hand side of the photograph. Behind the Post Office, Hastings Street intersects with Browning Street. On the opposite side of the intersection stands the Bank of New Zealand. Other businesses visible along Hastings Street include the Masonic Hotel.

Horse drawn carriages run along Hastings Street.

The back of the postcard features a note to H Ross from her son, wishing her a happy new year. The postcard was sent from Napier on 24 December 1906.
