Brief Description
Two newspaper cuttings adhered to a piece of paper.
The first is from the New Zealand Gazette and shows Donald McLean's letter to the Superintendents Office advising that William Colenso had been elected to the Provincial Council of Hawke's Bay.
The second is a cutting from a local paper of various letters sent to the editor. The first relates to the formation of Militia for the defence of the town. The second letter is an account of a meeting at Pā Whakairo.
