About this object
A photograph depicting the arrival of the Governor General Lord Glasgow at Napier Railway Station for the opening of the Napier Breakwater, 22 October 1895.
Groups of sailors, military and band members stand in formation ready to march. This is presumably a photograph of the procession heading to the opening of the breakwater. The photograph is taken looking down Station Street toward Hastings Street.
Munroe Street and St Patrick's church are visible left of the intersection. Spectators are visible along Station Street and under the trees that line the area near St Patrick's Church and Clive Square. A group of four men are seated in a coach pulled by two white horses in the left of the image.
