About this object
A photograph of a motorcycle decorated for the Napier Mardi Gras, 26 December 1914.
The boy seated on the motorcycle was a son of C.C. Willis. The girl is identified as Mavis Sweetapple, aged 5. The motorcycle is decorated in imitation of a plane. It has a structure with an imitation propeller at the front and the entire motorcycle is decorated with ribbons, a New Zealand flag and flowers. The sign on the side of the motorcycle reads: C C Willis and Co opp. T P Pictures, Dickens Street, Napier, Phone 480. The photograph was possibly taken in Dickens Street.
