About this object
A postcard photograph of a float and activity surrounding Napier Mardi Gras, circa 1920.

The photograph is taken along Marine Parade looking across the road from the Municipal Baths. The float is constructed over a car and decorated with Chinese lanterns, parasols, fabric and foliage. It has a second prize certificate on the front.People are walking along Marine Parade in the direction of Coote Road. In the bottom left of the image a woman is visible walking along the street holding a package. Homes along Marine Parade are visible in the background of the image.
