View of Shakespeare Road, Napier, thought to have been taken in 1876 or 1877.
A row of four timber dwellings is located along the left side of Shakespeare Road. A white picket fence runs along the front of the properties.
Convent Road is visible on the right side of the photograph. St Mary's Catholic Church, built 1873, is visible at the top of the hill. The building at the bottom of the hill is the Marist Brothers school building.
