a) News article, Hawke's Bay Herald Tribune, dated 12 June 1959, giving a brief history of the letter and translation by Canon Te Hihi Kaa. Inset is a picture of the original letter.
b) Note by Alice Woodhouse stating that a Joseph Smith and Mrs Maaka who were direct descendants of Captain Ellis whose Māori name was Te Hareti, had visited the Museum and given information to her regarding Captain Ellis.
c) News article, Hawke's Bay Herald Tribune, dated 17 June 1959, regarding finds by D Rattray in the Hamlin family estate.
