Translation by Canon Te Hihi Kaa of a letter written in Māori from Te Hareti to Te Hapuku, dated 22 January 1862. The letter states that the Governor was pleased that a peaceful conclusion was reached over some sheep that were taken, and mentions a proposition put forward by Mr Ward.
