About this object
View of the Clarendon Hotel, Shakespeare Road, taken from the intersection of Browning Street and Hastings Street in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. The Clarendon Hotel is located in the centre of the photograph. On the left side of the image is the Post Office. On the opposite side of the intersection is the Colonial Bank. The building to the left of the hotel along Shakespeare Road features a sign for Lachie Stewart.
The street is occupied by horse drawn vehicles and pedestrians.
