About this object
View of the Masonic Hotel taken from Marine Parade looking down Tennyson Street, possibly around 1909. Opened on this site in September 1861, the original two storey structure was destroyed by fire in 1896. It was replaced with a three storey structure the following year. In front of the hotel is the band rotunda, which was donated to the Borough of Napier by Neal and Close in 1894.

Among the other buildings that are visible along the left side of Tennyson Street are the premises of T Parker and Company and the New Zealand HB Clothing Factory.
