About this object
A photograph of people gathered on a Napier wharf, possibly Glasgow wharf, as Bluff Hill is visible in the background of the image.
A group of children, men and women stand behind a cordoning rope. A policeman stands in front of the rope at the right of the image. It is noted on the photograph that the police officer looks like W Harvey. There are flags strung up along the entrance to the wharf. Rail haulage lines are visible in the foreground.
The photograph is possibly an image of people observing the departure of troops for the South African War.
