About this object
View of a flock of English Leicester ewes, possibly at Elms Hill Station, Hawke's Bay, taken in February 1895.

A newspaper clipping has been affixed to the back of the photograph. The clipping reads:

On Saturday evening last there arrived by the Dingadee, from Lyttleton, a number of very fine Leicester ewes, and one splendid stud ram of the same breed, consigned to the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, for Mr F J Tiffen, of Elsthorpe. These sheep, which were much admired, were bred by Mr P C Threlkeld, of Inglewood, Canterbury.

The date 2/3/95 has been written along the bottom of the newspaper clipping.
