About this object
View of Browning Street looking towards Bluff Hill, possibly taken in the late 1880s or early 1890s. On the left side of the street are W Cato’s Office and Sample Room and the premises of Robert Hannah and Company (The Hawke's Bay and Napier Cash Boot Market). On the opposite side of the intersection of Browning and Hastings Streets is the Bank of New Zealand. St John's Anglican Church is visible at the end of Browning Street. Buildings visible along the right side of the street include the Colonial Bank and the Napier Post Office.
Pedestrians and horse drawn carriages are visible along the street. The cart in the foreground features the name D B Watt.
