Brief Description
Letter from J P Hamlin to the Chairman of Napier Harbour Board regarding the reservation of East Pier for Māori and Paora Kaiwhatu's lease at Port Ahuriri.
J P Hamlin was a trustee for Paora Kaiwhatu who leased the site from J G Kinross. When Paora Kaiwhatu passed away this lease expired and was to be auctioned. J P Hamlin recognised the importance of the spot for business and suggests a new 1/4 acre site near East Pier.
