About this object
View of the Gore Brown Barracks on Napier Hill. In the foreground are a group of five timber buildings. A note pinned to the photograph identifies the building on the extreme right of this group as the Royal York Hotel in Goldsmith Road. The building behind this structure is thought to have been the first building in Napier to be used for theatrical entertainments. Piles of timber are located along the road in front of these buildings.
The Gore Brown Barracks are visible on the top of Napier Hill. To the right of the barracks, small dwellings are located along the ridgeline.

I believe one of the smaller dwellings to the right of the barracks is my property which was relocated to 181 Shakespeare Road Bluff Hill post the last of the English 65th Regiment left Napier. Would like to expand and knowledge of my House as it is being considered to be included in the Napier Council District Plan Update. Regards Mike
