About this object
View of Browning Street from Marine Parade, possibly taken around 1900. The South British Insurance Company building stands on the corner of Browning Street and Herschell Street. Other buildings visible along this side of the street include the Alliance Assurance Company building, the Colonial Bank, and the old Napier Post Office.

Among the buildings that are visible along the opposite side of the street are the Athenaeum and the premises of Robert Hannah and Company (Hannah's Cash Boot Market).

Pedestrians and horse drawn carriages are visible along the street.

Bluff Hill is visible in the background.
