About this object
View of Browning Street from Marine Parade, possibly taken in the late nineteenth century. The South British Insurance Company building stands on the corner of Browning Street and Herschell Street. Other buildings visible along this side of the street include the Colonial Bank and the old Napier Post Office.

On the opposite side of the street are the Athenaeum, the premises of Robert Hannah and Company, and St John's Anglican Church.

Pedestrians and horse drawn carriages are visible along the street.

Bluff Hill is visible in the background.
